Yesterday I stuck my head in the freezer.
I like New York, but I don't like New York summers. The oppressive heat. The stagnant trash smell that hangs in air in the subway stations. The sweat that pours down your back as you wait for the train. All of these things add up to nastiness. That's the only way to put it. I think I like the idea of summer: lounging on the beach, barbeques with friends that last until the wee hours, and the unmistakable smell of sunblock. I realize that my idea of summer is an acutal reality for some of you. However, I have sticky underarms and frizzy hair to look forward to. So here's my summer dream mix.
A.C. Newman: 35 in the Shade
Hockey Night: Tubin'
Magnolia Summer: Summer Moon
The Flaming Lips: Buggin'
Jens Lekman: Me on the Beach
Jose Gonzalez: Stay in the Shade
The mix sounds good from the freezer, too.
